How it works

Enter your date of birth and the calculator compares it against the current date and time on your device. It works out your age two different ways at once: a calendar-aware version in years, months, and days (checking whether your birthday has actually happened yet this year, not just subtracting birth year from the current year) and a set of running totals in months, weeks, days, hours, and minutes measured from the exact moment you were born. The calendar-aware year count is what most people mean when they say "I'm 26," while the totals are useful when a form, a bet, or a milestone asks for your age in a specific unit.

For example, someone born on March 10, 2000, checking this calculator on August 3, 2026, would see 26 years old, since their 27th birthday is still about seven months away. Behind that single number, the same span works out to roughly 9,641 total days lived, 1,377 weeks, 316 months, 231,407 hours, and 13,884,420 minutes since birth. The calculator also flags that their next birthday, March 10, 2027, is 220 days away.

One detail worth knowing: the "Total Months" figure isn't a calendar count. It divides your total days lived by 30.44, the average length of a month across a full year, so it won't always match exactly what you'd get counting month by month from your birth date. The hours and minutes totals also shift slightly depending on what time of day you run the calculator, since they measure from your device's current clock time, not just today's date.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is this age calculator?

It calculates your exact age down to the minute using your device's clock, accounting for leap years and varying month lengths. The year, month, and day breakdown is calendar-aware, meaning it checks whether your birthday has actually occurred yet this year. The only real limitation is your device's clock: if it's set to the wrong time, the results will be off by that same amount.

Can I calculate someone else's age?

Yes, just enter their date of birth instead of your own to see their current age in years, months, weeks, days, hours, and minutes. This works for a child's, parent's, or friend's exact age, and it updates instantly if you re-enter a different date.

Does it store my birth date?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript, and nothing you enter is saved, logged, or sent to any server.

How many days old am I?

Enter your date of birth and check the "Total Days" result. It's the exact number of days between your birth date and right now, calculated to the day rather than estimated. Someone born in 2000, for example, would already be well past 9,000 days old by 2026.

Why doesn't "Total Months" match my age in years times 12?

Because "Total Months" is calculated by dividing your total days lived by 30.44, the average number of days in a month, rather than counting actual calendar months one by one. Real months vary from 28 to 31 days, so this average-based total drifts slightly from a strict calendar count, more noticeably the longer you've been alive.

Does the calculator account for leap years?

Yes. Because it works from real calendar dates rather than assuming every year is exactly 365 days, leap years are automatically factored into the day, hour, and minute totals without any extra input from you.

What if I was born on February 29?

The calculator still works normally, since it compares your exact birth date to today's date rather than looking up a birthday each year. Your calendar-aware age in years still increases by one every 12 months, even in years that aren't leap years, because the math is driven by full year cycles, not by whether February 29 exists in a given year.
